1. New Applicants

·         New Applicants to Parking Services from Emory University must complete and submit the full application form to the Parking Office located at 1701 Lowergate Drive, or may go on line at http://www.epcs.emory.edu/park and select Emory University Registration to register for a regular parking permit or for another commute option.  The commute options include Cliff Transit, Emory Park and Ride Lots, Public Transit, Vanpools, Carpools (2 and 3 person), Bike, and Walk/Drop Off.  The cost of regular parking is $630 per year.   The permit fee for two person carpools is $315.  All other options involve a nominal cost or no cost.

·         New applicants may review the commute options in brief below or go to http://www.epcs.emory.edu/park/parking%20rules%20text.pdf for the detailed rules.

·         New applicants will be called when their permit is ready to be issued.

·         Employees registering for the first time must show their driver’s license and vehicle registration for each vehicle that will be driven to campus when picking up a regular parking permit or a commute option permit.

 

2. Continuing Current permit holders

·         No action is required for Faculty and Staff holding a regular parking permit.  Permit holders will continue to use their current permit through 2008 and will obtain a new two year permit in 2009.   The cost of parking is increasing to $630 for 2008. 

·         If you are not on payroll deduction for a parking permit fee, you should go on line at http://www.epcs.emory.edu/park select Emory University Registration and change your payment method by selecting regular parking and either pre-tax or post tax payroll deduction.

·         No action is required by University employees currently registered for one of the Commute Options other than regular parking (Cliff Transit, Emory Park and Ride Lots, Public Transit, Vanpools, Carpools, Bike, and Walk/Drop Off) have permits that will continue in effect until 2009.  Commute option Cliff permits will continue in effect until 2009 with 24 more daily uses being added for the period February 1, 2008 to January 31, 2009. 

·         Action is required if the University employee has a change in employment status, work location or home address.  Participants having such a change should go online at http://www.epcs.emory.edu/park and select Emory University Registration to update their registration. 

 

3. Applicants Changing their Method of Commute

·         University employees wishing to change their method of commute may go online at any time by going back to the home page and selecting Emory University Registration to change from one method of commute to another.  The Commute options are compared below.  Rules for specific programs may be found at http://www.epcs.emory.edu/park/parking%20rules%20text.pdf

·         New applicants contacted when their permit is ready to be picked up at Parking Services, 1701 Lowergate Drive, Lowergate Parking Deck.

·         Employees registering for a new commute method must show their driver’s license and vehicle registration for each vehicle that will be driven to campus when picking up a regular parking permit or a commute option permit.

·         COMMUTE OPTIONS COMPARED FOR EMORY UNIVERSITY REGULAR EMPLOYEES*

*Emory Temporary Service (ETS) employees are eligible to purchase an Eagle permit at the rate of $75 for twenty (20) daily deck accesses in place of a Cliff permit or the following Commute Options:

 

 REGULAR PARKING

 Ø  $630 PER YEAR FOR UNIVERSITY FACULTY AND STAFF, EFFECTIVE FEB. 1, 2008

 Ø  SINGLE OCCUPANCY VEHICLES  ADD TO CONGESTION AND POLLUTION

 Ø  MORE EXPENSIVE WAY TO GET TO WORK

 Ø  CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING LOW COST  OR  NO COST OPTIONS IN THIS DIAGRAM

 

Ø  MUST SHOW DRIVER’S LICENSE AND VEHICLE REGISTRATION

 

 VANPOOL  

Ø  Leased van for 7 or more participants

Ø  Guaranteed Ride Home

Ø  Free Cliff permit for 24 daily deck uses per year (must show driver’s license and vehicle registration); option to purchase additional swipes

Ø  Shared cost depending on distance and number of participants

Ø  $51 per month subsidy provided by Emory

 

 CARPOOL

Ø  Guaranteed Ride Home

Ø  3 or more persons, reserved space

Ø  2 person, one-half the rate of regular parking ($315)

Ø  Free  Cliff permit for 24 daily deck uses per year (must show driver’s license and vehicle registration); option to purchase additional swipes

 

 

 CLIFF TRANSIT  /  PARK  AND RIDE LOTS

Ø  Courtesy Ride to Shuttle stop / Park and Ride lot  in case of  emergency

Ø  No cost to use Cliff Transit to commute to campus (CCTMA, Grady/CLH, Exec. Park) or to park and ride

Ø  Park and Ride lots:

-North DeKalb Mall   

-Northlake Mall

-South DeKalb Mall

Ø  Free Cliff permit for 24 daily deck uses per year (must show driver’s license and vehicle registration); option to purchase additional swipes

 SUBSIDIZED PUBLIC     TRANSIT

Ø  Transcards at no cost for eligible employees on Express service from the following providers: MARTA, GRTA (Georgia Regional Transit Authority), CCT (Cobb County Transit), CTran (Clayton County Transit), Gwinnett County Transit

Ø  Guaranteed Ride Home

Ø  Free Cliff permit  for 24 daily deck uses per year (must show driver’s license and vehicle registration); option to purchase additional swipes

 BIKE

Ø  Guaranteed Ride Home

Ø  Free “Cliff” permit for 24 daily deck uses per year (must show driver’s license and vehicle registration); option to purchase additional swipes

Ø  Free MARTA transcards – 100 one ways per year

 

 WALK / DROP OFF

Ø  Guaranteed Ride Home

Ø  Free Cliff permit for 24 daily deck uses per year (must show driver’s license and vehicle registration required); option to purchase additional swipes

Ø  Free MARTA transcards – 100 one ways per year

 

 MOTORIZED CYCLE

Ø  Now required to register for a permit 

Ø  Deck parking at no charge

Ø  Enter deck by going around gate

Ø  Motorcycle pads in decks near entrance

Ø  May retain parking permit for when motorized cycle not used.

Ø  Show motorized cycle registration if applicable and/or

document with VIN number
